Man, 34, shot dead on Rotterdam street; Large investigation team seeking 2 suspects
A 34-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel was shot dead on Indrapoerastraat in Rotterdam on Thursday afternoon. The police are looking for two suspects and have put a large-scale investigation team on the case, indicating that the police think this may be more than a domestic dispute.
Emergency services received the first reports of shots fired at around 4:50 p.m. First responders found the victim in the entrance to an apartment building. They resuscitated him on the street, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
“We are looking for at least two suspects,” the police said. The suspected shooter was seen getting into the passenger side of a black car, which drove away.
Witnesses report that an argument preceded the shooting. Police suspect this may have been a criminal altercation. “Several witnesses saw an altercation between the suspect and the victim,” a police spokesperson told ANP. “It appeared to be a fight. Then shots were fired.”
According to the spokesperson, investigators found numerous shell casings across the street. “That wasn’t accidental.”
Investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting. They also asked people with relevant camera footage from doorbell cameras, security cameras, or dashcams to come forward.
