Video: Police chase in Zoeterwoude ends with driver crashing into tow truck, police car stuck

A police pursuit on Monday evening ended with a police car stuck on a roundabout in Zoeterwoude and the fleeing driver crashing into a tow truck on the A4 near Leidschendam, RTL reported.

The incident began around 7:25 p.m. when officers in Oegstgeest attempted to stop a vehicle on Willem Einthovenstraat. The driver ignored the stop signal and fled, initiating a roughly 20-minute pursuit through Oegstgeest, Leiderdorp, Leiden, and Zoeterwoude.

During the chase, one police vehicle ran onto a roundabout in Zoeterwoude and became stranded, according to the officers. The pursued vehicle continued driving until approximately 7:45 p.m., when it collided with a tow truck on the A4. No one was inside the tow truck at the time of the crash.

“The driver of the vehicle has been arrested,” police said. “Ambulance personnel checked the driver and the involved officers, but no one needed hospital treatment.”

The fleeing car was later towed from the scene. Police confirmed that the officers’ vehicle was removed from the roundabout without injuries.
