Video: Police chase ends apparent kidnapping in Amsterdam-Oost; 3 arrested
An apparent kidnapping in Amsterdam-Oost on Wednesday evening ended with the police arresting three people after a brief chase. The victim was in the car with them. The police are investigating what happened, AT5 reported.
The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. The police responded in large numbers to a report of a potential abduction. Responding officers chased a car over Insulindeweg, forcing it to a stop near the Flevoparkbad.
In the car, the police found four people - three suspects and the potential victim. The three suspects were arrested.
The police cordoned off part of the street. Inside the cordon was a car standing on the tram rails. AT5 reporters saw investigators searching the nearby bushes.
It is unclear exactly what happened, a police spokesperson told RTL Nieuws. Officers were questioning multiple people, including the suspects and the potential victim.
The incident is remarkably similar to another abduction on the nearby Zeeburgerdijk in May. Police received a report of a boy being forced into a car against his will. After a brief chase, the police stopped the car on the A10 highway, freeing the boy and arresting three suspects.
