Man arrested in Vlissingen after fleeing police with gun, drugs, and knife
Police arrested a 40-year-old man in Vlissingen around midnight Saturday after he fled officers while carrying a firearm, soft drugs, pills, and a knife.
Officers initially noticed the man riding a fatbike at high speed and failing to stop when signaled. They intended to issue him a traffic citation for ignoring the stop.
Police said the man appeared “quite nervous,” prompting them to ask if he had any illegal items. He produced a container of pills he claimed contained MDMA. When officers questioned him further, the man ran, discarding a small bag that later was found to contain a firearm.
The suspect was ultimately apprehended. Authorities also discovered soft drugs and a knife in his possession. He remains in custody and is scheduled to provide a statement Sunday.
