Nighttime car crashes hit Kampen, Noord-Brabant, and Arnhem
Three separate car crashes caused significant damage across Kampen, Noord-Brabant, and Arnhem late Saturday and early Sunday, police reported.
In Kampen, a gray Seat crashed into the front yard of a home on Lelystraat around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, RTV Oost reported. The car struck a tree, snapping it in half, and also hit a vehicle parked in the driveway. The yard was destroyed, but no one was injured and the house itself was not damaged. Police at the scene said alcohol was not involved. The car was seized to investigate how fast the driver had been traveling.
On the N279 between Middelrode and Heeswijk-Dinther in Noord-Brabant, two cars collided shortly before 10:45 p.m. According to Omroep Brabant, the driver of the rear vehicle fled on foot after the crash.
For a moment, emergency crews feared he had ended up in nearby water, but officers later found him on a slope. Police said the reason for his flight remains unclear, though he may have been under the influence. Both cars were towed from the road.
In Arnhem, two cars crashed at high speed around 1 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of the A325 and Nijmeegseweg, De Gelderlander reported. Police and ambulance crews quickly arrived.
Both drivers were checked by paramedics but did not need hospital treatment. Both vehicles in Arnhem sustained heavy damage and were removed by a tow service. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
