Here we go again: Storm warnings for the Netherlands all day Friday and Saturday

For at least the third time this week, Dutch meteorological office KNMI issued a severe weather warning for the Netherlands. The latest Code Yellow Weather Warning covers the entirety of the Netherlands for most of Friday and Saturday.

"Some heavy thunderstorms will approach the southeast of our country on Friday morning. In the afternoon these thunderstorms will spread further over the country," the KNMI wrote in an alert.

Drivers should keep in mind "that roads and tunnels can be flooded. Outdoor activities may be disrupted." Sudden downpours can dump the equivalent of up to 40 millimeters of precipitation per hour. The storms will bring a chance of hail, and "local flooding is possible," the KNMI stated.

The storm warning will start around 8 a.m. on Friday in Limburg and Noord-Brabant. It will begin at noon everywhere else. Rain showers could last for extended periods of time, bringing over 50 millimeters of rainfall in 24 hours.

Despite the nasty weather, the temperature should reach a high of about 18 degrees Celsius in Limburg, 19 degrees along the western coast, and 20-21 degrees in the central and eastern regions.

"Most showers will disappear during Saturday," the KNMI predicted. The warning will likely expire at about 2 p.m. in Limburg and Noord-Brabant, and three hours later elsewhere.

The temperature could even be a bit warmer on Saturday, reaching up to 23 degrees. A low of around 11 degrees is predicted for the overnight hours.

A partly sunny Sunday could bring some scattered showers, with temperatures again at 23 degrees. The warmer, clear weather should continue into the early part of the workweek.
