Two people were critically injured in a stabbing in the Vogelbuurt neighborhood of Amsterdam-Noord on Tuesday. A day later, police reported that a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The violence took place at around 4:30 p.m. near Eendenstraat. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing a man and a woman, covered in blood, entering a eatery. The woman was stabbed in the arm, while the man sustained two stab wounds to the chest, a reporter for AT5 said on social media platform X.
Multiple police officers and several ambulances were sent to the scene, as well as a trauma team traveling by helicopter. First aid was given to the victims at the scene. They were then transported to the hospital.
Later that day, a 16-year-old boy was arrested “who may have something to do with the incident,” the police wrote. The police acknowledged on Wednesday that "much remains unclear about this case.”
