Anne Faber murder suspect allowed to leave psych clinic for night school

Michael P., the man suspected of murdering 25-year-old Anne Faber, followed a gardeners course at a night school in Houten and was allowed to leave the Altrecht psychiatric institution in Den Dolder to attend classes, the Telegraaf reports. According to the newspaper, the school, Wellant College, knew nothing of his background.

P. was admitted to the institution in Den Dolder as the last part of a long prison sentence he got for raping two teenage girls in Nijkerk. The clinic was preparing him for a gradual return to society.

Wellant College responded with astonishment when they found out their student was the man arrested for Faber's murder. An employee of the school told the newspaper that the school will organize an information evening for its students soon.

On Wednesday the Public Prosecutor announced that P. is also suspected of raping Anne Faber. The Prosecutor requested that P. undergo a psychiatric examination at the Pieter Baan Center.

Anne Faber's body was found in a wooded area in Zeewolde two weeks ago, based on information from P. She had been missing for 13 days. P. was arrested when a DNA trace found on Anne's jacket matched with a sample he gave after an earlier conviction.
