Highway to Schiphol closed over suspicious situation

The A4 towards Schiphol is currently closed down at the Nieuw-Sloten off-ramp near Amsterdam due to a suspicious situation involving a tour bus. Camera footage from traffic information service VID shows a tour bus standing still on the highway. A man stands in front of the bus with his hands up as a SWAT team approaches with guns drawn. According to local broadcaster AT5, the man was instructed to lie face down on the ground. He was arrested and taken away by the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as part of the military. A police spokesperson told NOS that the man may be mentally disturbed. The VID camera showed other bus passengers standing a few hundred meters away. The camera is no longer focused on the scene. Traffic was halted behind the incident and a large traffic jam resulted, according to AT5. Road users are advised to detour via the A10, A2 and A9.
