Over 30 people have already been turned away from the Dutch borders since the entry ban came into force on Thursday at 6 p.m., the Marechaussee confirmed to NL Times. Most travelers who were denied entry into the Netherlands were turned back after landing at Schiphol Airport, while two travelers were turned back at Eindhoven Airport, the military branch said.

So far, no denials of entry have been made at any of the Dutch land borders or seaports.

Another 534 people in the Netherlands were diagnosed with coronavirus since Thursday, which took the country's total number of infected people to 2,994. Thirty of those patients died since Thursday, meaning that 106 people with coronavirus have died in the Netherlands, public health agency RIVM said on Friday.

Two airline passengers were arrested separately at Schiphol Airport this month carrying a combined total of about 275 thousand euros in cash. Both men were caught at airport security checkpoints, and neither had a valid reason for holding the money, authorities said.

The first suspect is a 38-year-old Ukranian man who was found with 195 thousand dollars (€174,600) in a plastic bag inside his backpack. He was destined for Ecuador, but was taken into custody on March 1, said the Marechausseee, the military branch tasked with protecting Dutch borders and airports.

Three men were arrested at Schiphol Airport on Monday evening after a loaded gun was found in their possession, the Koninklijke Marechaussee said on Facebook on Wednesday. 

The firearm was discovered during a routine check of a car with three people inside on the airport's departure passage. During the check, a Marechaussee officer noticed that one of the passengers was acting very nervously. He tried to escape the check by getting out of the car, throwing a bag into the back seat as he did so.

A search of a van near the Rotterdam Port uncovered six men, likely of Iranian and Iraqi nationality, hidden in a small secret compartment inside the vehicle. Four people were arrested on suspicion of people smuggling after authorities made the discovery.

The van, which had a Romanian license plate, was inspected by authorities before driving aboard a ferry headed to England. The six others in the vehicle shot out of the van when officers found the hidden compartment.

A 43-year-old American man was fined 750 euros at Schiphol airport on Sunday after Koninklijke Marechaussee officers found a large amount of Second World War armaments in his luggage. His suitcase contained three hand grenades, a part of a mortar grenade, over 30 bullet shells, and various other ammunition parts, the Marechaussee said on Facebook.

The man told the authorities that he collects WWII items. He said he found the armaments with a metal detector in Germany and wanted to take them home with him. Because the items contained no explosive charges, he saw no harm in it.

Mpanzu Bamenga from Eindhoven and a number of civil rights organizations are filing a lawsuit against the Koninklijke Marechaussee, accusing the government service of ethnic profiling. According to Amnesty International, one of the organizations involved in this case, this is the first time the Dutch State is sued over this form of discrimination, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee is a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military. It is responsible for border security, including at airports.

Authorities in the Netherlands say they found a group of 19 Albanian people hidden inside a truck at the Hoek van Holland. The 17 men and two women were in a vehicle that was going to travel to England by ferry.

The 47-year-old Romanian driver of the truck, which had Romanian license plates, was taken into custody on Friday evening by the Marechaussee. The driver was being held on suspicion people smuggling.

All 19 of the people found in the truck were hidden in the truck’s trailer area. They range in age from 19 to 43.

Last year the Koninklijke Marechaussee and the Seaport police found a total of 1,480 documented migrants hiding in trucks, trailers or containers, compared to 1,371 in 2018 and 944 in 2017. The largest part of this group concerned people from Afghanistan and Albania trying to get to the United Kingdom. 

The Ministry of Justice and Security told NOS that the number of stowaways has been fluctuating for years. "The controls were tightened in 2015 when it appeared that the number was increasing. That has had effect, and that is why we will continue to pursue this effort."

The police are looking for three men suspected of stealing a large number of boxes filled with electronics from a warehouse on Rangoonweg on Schiphol last summer, was revealed on Opsporing Verzocht. The stolen electronics had a value of around 3 million euros.

A suitcase containing body parts was found in a hangar at Schiphol airport. The authorities believe it involves a "lost suitcase" containing body parts that are intended for medical science, a spokesperson for the Koninklijke Marechaussee said to NH Nieuws.

The suitcase was found in a hangar where suitcases normally never go. "As soon as something is weird or punishable, we are called in. We opened the case and then made the lurid discovery," the spokesperson said. He could not say how the suitcase ended up in the hangar.

A suspicious package was found in the arrival hall of Eindhoven Airport on Monday morning. The Ministry of Defense's explosive removal department is at the scene to investigate, the Oost-Brabant police and the Koninklijke Marechaussee said on Twitter.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security, confirmed the Defense experts' arrival at the airport at 10:57 a.m.

Part of the arrival hall is cordoned off to keep travelers at a safe distance.

Dozens of people were found hidden on board a DFDS cargo ferry ship that had departed the Netherlands for England. They were discovered by the ship's crew late Tuesday afternoon inside a refrigerated container.

Authorities say the 25 stowaways were all found alive. Two people were hospitalized, and 23 were treated at the scene. The 23 that were in good condition were then taken to an area police station.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee intercepted a tour bus containing around 65 Moldovan people near the asylum center in Ter Apel on Monday morning. The 57-year-old bus driver and a 50-year-old co-driver were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, a spokesperson for the Marechaussee said to NU.nl.

Sixteen undocumented migrants were found hiding in the back of a truck at the port of IJmuiden on Thursday. Among them were four children, one woman and eleven men, of various nationalities, the Koninklijke Marechaussee, a military policing force tasked with border security, said on Facebook. 

An employee at the port, who asked to remain anonymous, told NH Nieuws that the children were "no older than around 8". He was there when the truck was opened. "There stood a small boy with a teddy bear in his hands", the port worker said.

Military personnel from the Koninklijke Marechaussee joined local Bahamanian authorities in search and rescue missions this week, the Dutch Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. Hundreds of people were still reported missing in the Bahamas weeks after Hurricane Dorian first made landfall there at Category 5 strength on Sept. 1.

“A lot of work has to be done to get this island going again,” said Wiebo, a 40-year-old Sergeant Major in the Marechaussee.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee already received 110 complaints about problems with valet parking companies around Schiphol this year. Clients return from their trip to find damage to their car, many extra kilometers on the odometer, or that their car was involved in a traffic accident or caught speeding while they were away, Het Parool reports.

With valet parking, the traveler hands their car over at the airport and the company parks the car elsewhere. When they return, their car is returned to them at the airport or they have to pick it up at a paring lot.

Two men from Moldavia were arrested in Ter Apel on Wednesday morning on suspicion of human trafficking. The Koninklijke Marechaussee found that they were transporting 10 people in their van, all also with Moldovan nationality.

None of the people in the van had valid border crossing documents, prompting suspicions of human trafficking, the Marechaussee said on Facebook. The driver and passenger in the front seat were arrested. They are in custody and will be arraigned on Friday.

Two truck drivers were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, the Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for border security, said on Facebook.

A 22-year-old soldier was killed in an accident during a parachute jump at the airport in Teuge on Tuesday. The accident happened during training. Bystanders saw the soldier spin in the air, Omroep Gelderland reports.

According to the broadcaster, it seemed as if the victim was unable to control the parachute properly. How the accident happened is not yet clear. The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military, is investigating under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee found 18 stowaways in the back of a truck at the Europoort in the port of Rotterdam on Saturday night. Seven of the stowaways were children between the ages of 1 and 15 years, the Marechassee said on Facebook.

The Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for border security, found the people hiding behind a double wall in the truck's cargo hold. According to the Marechaussee, it involves several families, believed to be from India.

A lightning strike left 14 military students injured at the army base in Ossendrecht on Wednesday morning. One student sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by trauma helicopter. The other 13 were taken to hospital for examination, the Koninklijke Marechaussee said on Twitter.

The students involved are studying the Safety & Craftsmanship course at ROC, according to RTL Nieuws. According to the Marechaussee, the lightning strike happened on a military training ground. 

Exactly what happened, is not yet clear.

The police and Koninklijke Marechaussee found 18 stowaways hidden in a "tiny, extremely hot space" between a load of tires in a small truck at Hoek van Holland on Sunday. Among the stowaways were five children between the ages of 5 and 14 and a pregnant woman. "Despite the miserable conditions in which they found themselves, all stowaways were in good health", the police said in a statement.
