Body parts found last month are missing drug dealer's remains

The body parts found around a ditch in Etten-Leur last month belonged to 26 year old Danny de Deugd, the police announced on Tuesday. The body parts were identified based on a DNA match. According to the police, De Deugd had a criminal record, which is why they have his DNA profile on their system. An ex-girlfriend of his told broadcaster Omroep Brabant that De Deugd had large debts and was involved in drug dealing. Some of his debts are owed to drug dealers. The body parts were found in and around a ditch on Zeevenbergseweg on December 12th, 2015. De Deugd was released from the Penitentiary Institution Dordrecht on June 19th, 2015. It is unclear what he did or where he stayed after that. He was never reported missing. "At first glance he seems like a good guy, but in him lurks an evil personality.", the ex-girlfriend describes De Deugd, telling the broadcaster how he beat her and she finally left him because she feared for her life. A friend knows where things went wrong for De Deugd. "Danny had to raise himself as a child. He often called out for warmth and love, but that was always out of reach. He wasn't taken to a play park to play like normal children, but to other things. Illegal things. He actually didn't know better." The police are calling on anyone who may be able to shed some light on this case to come forward.
