Dutch football clubs, film fest IDFA to tighten security

Dutch football clubs are tightening security at stadiums this weekend following the terrorist attacks in Paris and the terror threat that stopped the friendly match between Germany and the Netherlands on Tuesday. There are no indications that an attack could happen at a Dutch station, but clubs like Ajax and Feyenoord decided to take extra measures to be safe. The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam is also taking extra security measures. For the Ajax vs SC Cambuur match in Amsterdam on Saturday, visitors will have to be able to identify themselves and may be searched, Het Parool reports. There will also be additional checks on vehicles and bags. The Amsterdam club is asking fans to come to the match earlier. "It will take longer for everyone to get to his or her place. It is important to us that everyone is in the stadium before kick off", a spokesperson for Ajax said. Feyenoord also announced increased surveillance and supervision for the match against FC Twente at De Kuip on Sunday, but would not go into what measures this entails. "We never elaborate on security measures. They are not of a nature that fans will really notice them." a spokesperson said to the newspaper. The IDFA film festival in Amsterdam is also increasing security, the organization announced on Twitter on Tuesday. The organization is keeping close contact with the Amsterdam municipality and the police on the situation and if there are indications of increased threats, appropriate measures will be taken, a spokesperson said to NU. A total of over 300 documentaries will be screened at 12 locations during the festival, which runs from November 18th to 29th.
