The Netherlands, Belgium, France and United Kingdom reached an agreement on implementing passport controls on large international trains. A joint task force will be established to discuss this with Thalys and Eurostar, ANP reports.

The task force will also work on introducing better passenger lists for international high-speed trains. The intention behind this it so that security services can make sure no wanted criminals are on the train.

In 90 percent of these cases, women wearing headscarves were targeted. 29 percent of those incidents involved physical violence. The police arrested a 32-year-old Frenchman in Rotterdam on Sunday at the request of the French authorities. The man is suspected of preparing for a terrorist attacks. Another three people were arrested, including two Algerian men aged 43 and 47. So far nothing is known about the background of the third suspect. A number of raids were carried out and ammunition and drugs, among other things were found.

Authorities in Belgium made ten arrests after raiding 11 different locations in a terrorism investigation. Many of the arrests were made along the Limburg border with the Netherlands, reported Belgian media outlet Het Belang van Limburg based on information from the federal prosecutor.
