Badr Hari's checkered past

The Amsterdam-based professional kickboxer, Badr Hari, has repeatedly found himself on the wrong side of the law in the years leading up to his sentencing hearing today in Amsterdam. A judge in one of the city's courtrooms handed Hari an 18-month prison sentence, of which six months may be suspended, for his role in the assault of Koen Everink at the July 2012 Sensation White party in the Amsterdam ArenA. Two months earlier, Hari had been arrested on allegations of delivering a punishing flying kick and head-butting at the Jimmy Woo club in Amsterdam's Leidseplein district. Though acquitted for a lack of evidence, the claim came less than a year after Hari was accused of head-butting the stepbrother of his ex-girlfriend, Rosa, at the Cooldown Cafe off Leidseplein. He was convicted for the December 2011 crime, but a court dismissed charges filed against Hari in July 2011 alleging assault of Rosa and damaging her home. In June, just one month earlier, Hari fought with Club Air owner Jeroen van den Berg. Hari was found guilty of the attempted aggravated assault of van den Berg inside his off-Rembrandtplein club in Amsterdam. He was accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car on the Albert Cuypstraat in March 2010. Police say he drove down the street despite it being closed to traffic at that time. Hari also was convicted of aggravated assault and violence in public for joining a group of men in beating up the doorman of Leidseplein Club Blinq in February 2010.
