Kickboxer Badr Hari released from custody after arrest for assaulting ex-girlfriend

Kickboxer Badr Hari has been released from custody. The examining magistrate of the court in Amsterdam decided to suspect his pre-trial detention under certain terms and conditions. One of the conditions is that he has an area ban for the street in Amsterdam where his ex-girlfriend lives who pressed charges against him. He was also obligated to report to the police at regular intervals.

The 40-year-old was arrested in Amsterdam on Sunday on suspicion of assault. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has two incidents that they suspect Hari of. The first was on September 2024, and the other was last Sunday.

Hari was sentenced to two years in prison in October 2015, with ten months of these conditionally suspended for the assault of the lawyer Koen Everink, who was murdered in 2016. This incident happened in a skybox in the Amsterdam ArenA during Sensation White in 2012.

The kickboxer has also had incidents related to violence against women in the past. Text messages surfaced from his ex-girlfriend Rosa saying that Hari went on a rampage and that he left her covered in bruises.

Hari had his last official fight in 2023, losing to Uku Jürjendahl from Estonia. His record is 106 victories with 17 losses.
