A tram derailed in the Ypenburg district of The Hague early Saturday at about 4:43 a.m. after colliding with a DHL delivery truck at an intersection near Delft, authorities said. The crash left the front of the tram heavily damaged but caused no injuries.
About 10 passengers were aboard the tram at the time of the collision. All of them escaped without injury.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Rijswijkse Landingslaan and Singel. Emergency responders checked the tram driver at the scene. But, according to a cameraman from regional press agency Marofer, the driver was not taken to a hospital. The truck driver was also uninjured.
The front section of the tram sustained serious damage. A tow truck was later deployed to remove both the tram and the truck from the scene as cleanup operations continued.
