Far fewer trains between Rotterdam & The Hague due to broken rail; Repairs to take days

Far fewer trains are running between Rotterdam and The Hague do to a damaged track between Schiedam and Delft. Travelers can expect significant delays in the coming days as ProRail works to repair the track.

The repairs are expected to take several days because the damaged rail is built into concrete. ProrRail workers will first have to cut the rail out of the concrete, install a new one, encase it in concrete, and then wait for the concrete to harden.

Neither ProRail nor NS has given an estimated time for repair. “The exact end date is not yet known. The travel planner is updated daily,” NS said on its website.

NS warned travelers to expect crowded trains and delays. The rail company urged people traveling between Scheidam and Delft to make use of the express buses running between the stations.

Trains on the high-speed line continue to run as normal because they use a different track.
