Police seek "older man in blue shirt" after fatal rail accident near Twello

Police appealed for an older man in a blue shirt to come forward after a fatal incident on the railway tracks near station Twello left one person dead and disrupted rail traffic between Apeldoorn and Deventer, Omroep Gelderland reported on Saturday.

The incident occurred near Twello station, according to rail infrastructure manager ProRail. Authorities have not said exactly what happened on the tracks, but it was fatal. Investigators remained on-site, where red-and-white privacy screens were placed around the area.

Multiple emergency services responded to the scene, including police, firefighters, several ambulances, and a trauma helicopter, according to a 112 reporter. The station platform was closed off with police tape.

Police said they are specifically seeking an older man wearing a blue shirt who was in the area at the time of the incident. A police spokesperson said the man “may have more information.”

Train services between Apeldoorn and Deventer were suspended following the incident, with disruption expected to last until 1:30 p.m. Rail crossings at Stationsstraat and Domineestraat in Twello were also closed, causing traffic disruption.
