33-year-old suspect arrested after Amsterdam man killed in scooter crash

A 55-year-old man from Amsterdam died Friday afternoon in a scooter accident on Burgemeester Röellstraat in the Nieuw-West district, police said.

Authorities arrested a 33-year-old Amsterdam resident Saturday in connection with the crash.

Police received the initial report of the accident around 5:15 p.m. Friday, prompting multiple police and ambulance units to respond.

“We are still investigating the exact cause of the accident,” a police spokesperson told AT5. “It is possible that another vehicle was involved. Witnesses are asked to contact the police.”
