2-year-old killed in road accident in Sint-Oedenrode; Driver was family member

A tragic accident in Sint-Oedenrode on Saturday evening resulted in the death of a two-year-old child. The police confirmed the child's identity on Sunday afternoon and revealed that the driver of the vehicle involved was a family member.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the driveway at Vresselseweg. Despite immediate efforts from emergency responders, the child's life could not be saved.

The police issued a statement highlighting the profound impact of the child's death, especially given the family connection. "When a young child passes away, it is deeply impactful for everyone involved," the police said in their press release. "For this reason, a thorough investigation was conducted to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident."

Initial findings indicate that the fatal event was the result of an unfortunate accident, though the full details of what led to the incident are still under investigation.
