15-year-old arrested after attempted armed robbery in Rotterdam
A 15-year-old boy from Delft was arrested Saturday evening after attempting an armed robbery at a supermarket on the Sportsingel in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam.
The attempted robbery occurred just after 7 p.m., but the suspect fled the scene empty-handed, authorities said. Officers responded to the scene and saw the boy running away from the supermarket. During the pursuit, police fired two warning shots to stop the suspect.
The teen also discarded the gun during the chase. Police safely secured and seized the weapon. The suspect was apprehended around 10 minutes after the initial report, with no injuries reported.
The young suspect was taken into custody by the police's Tactical Unit (TPE) and dog handlers. Authorities confirmed that the firearm has been taken into evidence, and no one was harmed during the incident. The police continue to investigate the case.
