Family of girl killed in school shooting considering steps against police

The family of , a 16-year-old girl shot and killed at her Rotterdam school in December, is considering taking legal steps against the police. They are convinced that Humeyra would still be alive if the police had done their jobs, AD reports.

The 16-year-old girl was g by her on December 18th. E. stalked and threatened her for 15 months before finally killing her, according to the newspaper. , and a restraining order was issued against E., but he did not seem impressed by it. She had an appointment to meet with the police on the day of her death, but was killed 45 minutes before the meeting could happen. 

Humeyra's sisters told AD that the judiciary never took them seriously. In the 15 months before Humeyra's murder, the family repeatedly asked for help. In October the Public Prosecutor sent Humeyra a letter regarding a second declaration she filed at the end of May after the man violated the conditions of the suspension of his pre-trial custody. The letter said, according to the newspaper: "The suspect has already been punished in another criminal case. I do not think it necessary to have the suspect in court in again."
