Three suspects arrested for Delft shootings
The police arrested three suspects on Wednesday in connection with recent attacks in Delft. The three are suspected of involvement in a shooting on Peperstraat, hand grenades exploding on Peperstraat and Breestraat, and a shooting on Beestenmarkt. Two homes in the region were also searched, AD reports.
The suspects are currently in restricted custody and the police can therefore not release any more details about the investigation and arrests, a spokesperson for the police said to the newspaper.
Delft Mayor Marja van Bijsterveldt called the arrests "good news". "Police and Public Prosecutor continue their investigation. I am awaiting these developments and follow them with very great interest", she said.
On May 8th dozens of gunshots were fired on coffeeshop The Future and tanning salon Sunstyle on Peperstraat. On May 17th, The Future was again targeted in an attack. This time hand grenades were detonated at The Future, as well as at coffeeshop The Game on Breestraat. A passerby was injured. And on Tuesday shots were fired at two buildings - a catering facility and accessory shop Sisters - at Beestenmarkt on Molslaan.
