One killed, two hurt in Dronten shooting
A shooting on Blaasbalg in Dronten left one person dead and two severely injured on Monday afternoon. The police have a suspect in custody and are investigating what happened. Locals told the media that it was a neighbor quarrel that escalated and that a hand grenade was left next to the killed person’s body on the street.
The police received the first report of a shooting incident on Blaasbalg at around 4:15 p.m. Responding officers found two victims on the street and cordoned off the area. They quickly identified a suspect and arrested him. “The officers then saw that a third person had also been injured,” the police said.
Paramedics provided first aid, but it was too late for one victim. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other two were taken to a nearby hospital.
Had deze schietpartij in Amsterdam of Rotterdam plaatsgevonden, dan was het waarschijnlijk al landelijk nieuws geweest.

The police also called in the Ministry of Defense’s explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) team after “signals that there may have been an explosive or something similar in the area,” the police said. “The EOD came to the scene to rule this out. The investigation has been completed. It is not yet known what came of this.”
A video later circulated on social media showing the moments after the shooting. A male victim was lying on the street next to a parked car. Another person lay flat on their stomach behind the cars. The police arrive, and bystanders frantically gesture them toward the victims and the corner house where the suspect was. He is the resident of that home, the local who filmed the incident told Omroep Flevoland. A little later, the suspect calmly walks toward the police with his hands up.
Several locals told De Stentor that the shooting incident was the result of a dispute between neighbors. They said they saw a hand grenade with the body of the person who died.
The shooting left residents of the quiet neighborhood shaken. “I was at home and heard about ten shots. It was immediately clear to me that it wasn’t fireworks or anything like that,” a local told Omroep Flevoland. I went outside and saw the suspect waving and shouting. He said: ‘And now it has to be done,’ and other words to that effect. I didn’t see whether the man still had a weapon in his hands at that moment. A woman let out a terrifying scream.”
