Uber drivers get €50,000 in fines
Uber has received a 50 thousand euro fine for five UberPOP drivers caught by the Environment and Transport Inspectorate this weekend, NOS reports.
Four drivers were caught in Amsterdam and one in Rotterdam. Uber, the company behind UberPOP, received a 10 thousand euro fine for each of these drivers. Through UberPOP, individuals without a permit transport clients for about half the price of a taxi.
The caught taxi drivers will also receive a fine as soon as the Public Prosecutor decides on the amount. If they are caught again, they will also have to pay a 10 thousand euro fine themselves.
