In the coming years the Netherlands plans to make itself a less attractive option for companies to establish shell companies in the country. The government is taking a number of measures to ban companies that only choose the Netherlands to avoid taxes at their home base.

The number 2 at the Finance Ministry, Menno Snel, wants to get rid of the image of the Netherlands as a place to dodge taxes.  "The Netherlands is not a tax haven," he says. "We are going to make sure that the [business] constructions that were in the news are no longer possible."

Rock bands The Rolling Stones and U2 don't have offices in the Netherlands for tax-evasion purposes, but because of the "specific experience and expertise" the country has to offer, their management said to an investigative committee on Monday, NU.nl reports.

U2 is heading back to Amsterdam. The Irish rock band will perform a concert in the Amsterdam Arena on July 29th as part of their tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album The Joshua Tree - the album that took the band to international record levels, AT5 reports.

Tickets for the concert goes on sale on Monday, January 16th. 

The Joshua Tree was U2's fifth studio album. It included hits like With or Without You, Where the Streets Have No Name, and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

U2 frontman Bono has signed on to assist with the production of a new documentary on Dutch pop artist Herman Brood. The film's director, Dennis Alink, is ecstatic to work with the musician, according to ANP.

The organization of the Ziggo Dome has announced that U2 will give two extra performances in Amsterdam. The extra shows will be on September 12th and 13th in the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome.

Tickets went on sale Monday morning for two shows by rock legends U2 and the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome, with fans and hawks snatching up all the tickets within thirty minutes. The sale started at 10 a.m., with all 30,000 tickets gone by 10:30 a.m.
