Elvis Costello and his band The Imposters will be performing in the gardens of Soestdijk Palace on July 5th. They will be the opening act for the third edition of Royal Park Live, the festival announced on their website.

Costello released 32 albums throughout his career and is known for hits like Oliver's Army and Good Year for the Roses. 

This year Royal Park Live will also feature performances from Sting, Jack Johnson and Dutch band The Analogues, ANP reports. 

Presale for tickets to Elvis Costello and The Analogues start on February 5th.

The police are searching the wooded area around Soestdijk Palace for missing 50-year-old Edwin Takens from Soest. Takens left his home on Tuesday to go to work, and never returned. His car was found near the Paardenbos on Wednesday night, RTV Utrecht reports.

Around 50 police officers are combing the wooded area on Friday, police spokesperson Shirley Boonen said to newspaper AD. A police helicopter is also helping in the search. The police and soldiers also searched the wooded area on Thursday.

The police supported two new searches for in Baarn on Monday afternoon. The searches focused on the areas around Soestdijk Palace and around Hilversumsestraatweg, NU.nl reports.

Thunderstorms that pulled across the Netherlands on Thursday night caused a number of problems. Lighting strikes resulted in fires in several places, as well as some disruptions to train traffic. Rock band Bløf's concert had to be paused for around 20 minutes due to the weather, NOS reports.

Fires in Tilburg, Zwijndrecht, Weesp, Wijk bij Duurstede and Naarden are all believed to be caused by lightning strikes. Lightning is also believed to be behind a big fire in a pig company in Heeswijk-Dinther, according to Omroep Brabant. Two barns burnt down, killing around 4 thousand sows.

The consortium Made by Holland that bought the Soestdijk Palace from the Dutch state, plans to turn the palace and estate into "a platform for innovations and excellent entrepreneurship" with exhibitions and events for a broad audience, Minister Ronald Plasterk of Home Affairs wrote in a letter to parliament, NRC reports.

The Soestdijk Palace was sold to Made by Holland and will partly be converted into a hotel, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced. The consortium paid the Dutch state 1.7 million euros for the palace, NOS reports.
