A total of 90 people arrested in a large international action against the Italian mafia clan 'Ndrangheta on Wednesday morning, was announced at a press conference at European judicial cooperation body Eurojust in The Hague. As part of 'Operation Pollino', the police and judiciary in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium raided various locations.
Two people were found dead in an apartment on Beethovenstraat in Sittard on Monday evening. The victims' identity and cause of death are still under investigation. "We take multiple scenarios into account", a spokesperson for the police said to NU.nl.
Police officers found the two bodies around 8:00 p.m. The apartment was closed down as a crime scene. Technical detectives performed investigations in the apartment, as well as the staircase of the four floor apartment building.

The police discovered a "production site for narcotics" in a home on Ophoven in Sittard after there was a fire in the building on Monday evening. The police believe that the home was used to produce and dry cocaine, but further investigation is currently impossible due to the instability of the building. No arrests have been made, the police said in a statement.
