Dutch insurers are getting more and more damage claims related to car fires. Last year there were 4,359 such claims, a 9 percent increase compared to the 4,014 car fire claims in 2017, RTL Nieuws reports based on the latest figures from the Dutch Association of Insurers.
The number of traffic accidents in the Netherlands increased sharply last year, according to figures from the Traffic Risk Monitor by the Dutch association of insurers VNV. Last year Dutch insurers registered 905 thousand damage claims related to traffic accidents, an increase of 8 percent, NOS reports.
Fireworks did some 13 million euros in damage to individuals homes and cars' in the Netherlands over New Year's, according to an initial estimate by the Dutch Association of Insurers. The amount is slightly less than the 14 million euros in fireworks damages last New Year's, NU.nl reports.
During Christmas and New Year's insurance companies in the Netherlands receive on average double the number of claims as on ordinary days, according to figures from the Dutch Association of Insurers. However, for the third year in a row there was a decrease in the number of burglary claims last year, AD reports.
Last year there wre some 38 thousand burglaries across the country, compared to 45 thousand in 2014. That is a decrease of about 18 percent. Compared to 2013, the number of burglary claims submitted per day halved from 250 to 125.
The storm that raged over The Netherlands on Monday caused at least 95 million euros in damage, announces the association of Insurers Tuesday, based on initial estimates.
