An Arriva train crashed into a car at an unguarded rail crossing near Scheemda on Monday morning. The motorist was killed. The train driver remained unharmed. There were no passengers on the train, NOS reports.

There will be no trains running between Utrecht and Rotterdam Centraal, and between Utrecht and The Hague this week. This line is closed until August 6th due to maintenance on the track around Gouda, NOS reports.

A 66-year-old driving instructor from Amersfoort was killed in a collision between his car and a train in Bussum on Tuesday. His student, an 18-year-old girl from Bussum, managed to get out of the car and off the tracks just in time.

A gas leak near Amsterdam Central Station temporarily halted train traffic in the Dutch capital during rush hour on Monday morning. The leak was discovered around 8:30 a.m., and fixed by 9:20 a.m., but ProRail expects it will take a while yet before all trains are running on schedule again, ANP reports.
