No night trains around Amsterdam Central Station this weekend

This coming Saturday and Sunday, there will be no nighttime train service near Amsterdam Centraal, and some daytime routes around the capital will operate only partially. NS says the disruption is caused by maintenance work carried out by track manager ProRail.

Travelers heading to Alkmaar, Amersfoort, Breukelen, Haarlem, Schiphol Airport/Hoofddorp, Uitgeest, Utrecht, and Weesp will face no service at night and limited trains during the day this weekend.

Replacement buses will operate for night travel, including the night trains between Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal and Utrecht Centraal. On Saturday, NS tickets will also be valid for metro travel until the early morning.

NS recommends that passengers consult the travel planner before setting off and factor in additional travel time.

ProRail will perform multiple cable maintenance tasks this weekend, involving the cutting and transfer of hundreds of cables used for train safety and signaling. At Amsterdam Centraal, maintenance is being carried out on platform five. A section of the platform is closed, limiting access to the regular stairs, though the elevators remain in service. Tracks 1 to 7 will be fully closed during daytime hours.

This weekend, trains that usually serve Amsterdam Centraal will instead start or terminate at Amsterdam Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Muiderpoort stations. No trains will operate on the line connecting Amsterdam Sloterdijk, Amsterdam Centraal, and Amsterdam Muiderpoort.

The maintenance is part of the major “Bouwen op een eiland” redevelopment project, which aims to ready the station for 275,000 daily passengers by 2030 through platform expansions and tunnel enlargements.
