Nature lovers who look forward to a purple Posbank each summer, will be disappointed this year, according to naturalist Gerrit Jansen. The heather that turns the hills purple with its blossoms is withered by the persistent drought and will hardly bloom this year, he said to De Gelderlander. 

Every year the purple glow over the hills of the Posbank - a national attraction - attracts thousands of visitors in the second half of August. This year they will be disappointed.

A 66-year-old woman from Doesburg was rushed and injured by a Scottish Highlander cow while walking in the Posbank nature reserve a few weeks ago. The cow left her with a deep cut in the stomach, that is still undergoing treatment. Natuurmonumenten will reimburse the woman for all damages she suffered, forester Jeroen de Koe said, according to NOS. "It is our animals and it is our responsiblity."

The Public Prosecutor demanded 13 years in prison against suspects Frank S. and Souris R. for the murder of Alex Wiegmink over 14 years ago. The suspects were also charged with hiding Wiegmink's body, but that charge was dropped because its statute of limitations was reached, NOS reports.

Alex Wiegmink was shot and killed on January 20th, 2003 because he t of stealing his car, The 44-year-old Wiegmink's family was not surprised by this confession.

Suspect Frank S. confessed to the police that he is responsible for the murder of Alex Wiegmink in 2003. He previously , but now gave a full and official confession to the authorities, his lawyer Anette Layendecker confrimed, NU.nl reports.

Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the 2003 murder of Alex Wiemink in Posbank, also known as the Posbank murder. The police believe Wiemink was killed because he accidentally witnessed a crime, crime reporter Peter R. de Vries and Aart Garssen, head of the regional criminal investigation department in Oost-Nederland, announced at a press conference on Wednesday, AD reports.

Alex Wiegmink, 44, was reported missing on January 20th, 2003 when he never came home from a run in the Posbank in Rheden. His remains were found in his burning Opel Omega in the woods near Erp, Brabant later that night.

Thirteen years after the murder of Alex Wiegmink in Posbank, the police believe they are close ot a breakthrough, crime journalist Peter R. de Vries reported on Twitter. According to him, a cold case team of 20 detectives are working on the case and they found new technical evidence.

Alex Wiegmink was murdered in 2003, according to NOS. He went to the Posbank park for a run, but never returned. HIs body wasl later found in a burnt out car in Erp, Brabant. According to the broadcaster, it is assumed that Wiegmink witnessed a crime.
