Thousands of people gathered on the Malieveld in The Hague on Wednesday afternoon for a Holland against Hate demonstration against American president Donald Trump. The initiators want the protest to show that the Netherlands is against Trump's "xenophobic policy" of They also hope to convince the Dutch government to send the same signal.

With his campaign Prime Minster Mark Rutte is deliberately turning Dutch people against each other in order to win the election, according to GroenLinks party leader Jesse Klaver. Rutte (VVD) published a full page letter in various Dutch newspapers calling on everyone to act "normal" and if they don't like it to leave the Netherlands.

A majority in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, wants a debate on new American president Donald Trump's decision to borders to asylum seekers and other people from seven Muslim countries. The D66 and GroenLinks first raised the call for a debate on Sunday and they are now supported by the PvdA, CDA, SP, ChristenUnie, PvdD, Group Kuzu/Ozturk and parliamentarian Norbert Klein, NU.nl reports.

They carried signs reading "No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here", "Trump psychopath", "Human rights for ALL" and "Muslim ban is racist, xenophobic, not normal. Rise up". Opposition parties and even coalition party PvdA have nothing but criticism for current Prime Minister and VVD leader Mark Rutte's " election campaign. PvdA leader and current Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher called Rutte a poor substitute for a populist and accused him of sowing cynicism, while people who are dissatisfied should in fact work to improve the situation, NOS reports.

The D66, PvdA and GroenLinks wants the law to explicitly protect transgender- and intersex people against discrimination. D66 MP Vera Bergkamp, PvdA MP Keklik Yucel and GroenLinks MP Liesbeth van Tongeren submitted a legislative proposal to add that distinction to the law, the Telegraaf reports.

The VVD will not team up with the PVV after the elections coming up in March, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on television program Buitenhof on Saturday. And with that Geert Wilders and his anti-Islam populist party has no one to cooperate with after the elections - each political party has excluded working with the PVV, the Volkskrant reports. 

Rutte said that the "probability is not 0.1, but zero that the VVD will govern with the PVV", on Buitenhof. "It's not going to happen." Previously the PvdA, CDA, D66, GroenLinks and SP already closed the door on working with the PVV.

The Rotterdam police confiscated a jacket from a homeless person, because the jacket had the logo of a security company on it. A police officer posted a photo of the jacket on Twitter, leading to outraged reactions on the social media platform and from local politicians.

Early this week officers were escorting seven homeless people out of a car park where they were sleeping. One officer noticed the logo on the jacket. "Confiscated and returned to the security company", a police officer tweeted with a photo of the jacket.

Fireworks hotline vuurwerkoverlast.nl received over 7 thousand fireworks complaints since it opened on Saturday. This is the 5th year the hotline is active over the Christmas and New Year's holiday season.

Most of the complaints involved problems caused by firework bombs, the hotline said on Monday, according to the Telegraaf. Complaints about "irritating supermarket fireworks" came in second place.

A majority in parliament thinks that parents have the right to know if their kids are attending daycare with children and babies that haven't been vaccinated. Then parens can decide whether they want to take the risk of infectious disease or move theri child elsewhere, AD reports.

The PvdA, CDA, D66, GroenLinks and PVV all voted in favor of this proposal. They are concerned because fewer people are vaccinating their children.

A 37-year-old man from Kudelstaart was arrested on suspicion of making and posting a threatening video online about politician Sylvana Simons. The man turned himself in at a police station on Tuesday and he is being questioned, the Amsterdam police announced.

In the video Simons, who is a candidate parliamentarian for new party DENK, is portrayed as the victim of a racist lynching. Her face was photoshopped onto the bodies of lynched black Americans.

Former GroenLinks leader Bram van Ojik may return to the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament. His name is on the 10th spot on GroenLinks list of candidates, which was presented on Sunday, NRC reports.

Van Ojik, 62, decided tohalfway through his term in may last year. He handed over the reigns of the party to current leader 30-year-old Jesse Klaver.

Animal party PvdD wants to close zoos as one point in its campaign for the elections in March next year. According to the party, zoos are no longer of this time and should only be a temporary residence for animals, RTL Nieuws reprots.

The party writes that "exhibiting animals" in too small cages is outdated. In this time animals should live in their original habitat. The PvdD also statest aht the old argument of breeding programs at zoos is no longer relevant. According to the paryt, zoos only breed animals because baby animals attract extra visitors.

The Dutch government is running out of time for finding a solution on what to do about ratifying the associatioin agreement between the European Union and Ukraine. The deadline is November 1st. And it doesn't seem likely that a decision will be made on Friday, NU.nl reports.

"Today and in the coming days we are considerably going to talk about it", Minsiter Bert Koenders said, according to NU. "We still have a few days. We'll try to find a solution to the last moment."

Despite criticism from parliament, Prime Minister Mark Rutte does not want to lower the income Princess Amalia will receive annually once she turns 18, RTL Nieuws reports.

Princess Amalia turns 18 in 2021. From then she will be groomed to take over from her father, King Willem-Alexander. When she goes to university, she will receive a car with a driver, a secretary and other support staff, according to RTL She will receive an annual allowance of 250 thousand euros, plus 1.2 million euros personnel and costs.
