A 21-year-old Dutch tourist died in a fall from a balcony in Bangkok, Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the Telegraaf on Monday morning.

According to the Thai police, the Dutch man went home with a transsexual person after a night out. He fell from a fifth floor balcony. The man was found on the street with multiple head wounds and broken bones. The police believe he first landed on a car, because the car next to his body had a big dent in the roof, according to the Telegraaf.

Seven Dutch men were arrested in Prague for assaulting a waiter in the center of the city. They attacked the waiter on Saturday after the waiter told them they couldn't drink alcohol they brought themselves on a terrace, RTL Nieuws reports.

Czech newspapers report that the assaulted waiter is in intensive care in hospital. The Dutch men are between the ages of 24 and 32 years old and were arrested at the airport.

A Dutch tourist was assaulted at a bar in Mirissa in Sri Lanka early on Sunday morning after he tried to stop employees at the bar sexually harassing two female tourists, British newspaper Daily Mirror reports.

According to the newspaper, a group of tourists, including the Dutch man and two British women, had dinner and drinks at a beach bar in the town of Mirissa on Sunday night. Waiters at the bar repeatedly sexually harassed the two women during the night. "The tried to dance near us and groped us from time to time during the night", one of the women said to the newspaper.

The number of tourists that stayed in accommodation in the Netherlands last year increased by nearly 9 percent to 42 million. That is the strongest growth since 2006, according to figures Statistics Netherlands released on Wednesday.

Statistics Netherlands' figures do not include overnight stays in accommodations with fewer than five rooms, which means that most tourists booking accommodation through online platforms like Airbnb are not included in these figures.

A 26-year-old Dutch man was one of three tourists removed from the Incan citadel Machu Picchu in Peru on Tuesday because they dropped their pants and took photos of their bare backsides, AFP reports. 

The other two tourists are a 21-year-old German and a 24-year-old from Switzerland. "The three tourists dropped their pants to show their buttocks and took photos", a police spokesperson said to the news wire. They were removed from the ancient site, but not arrested.

The Peruvian authorities banned nudeness at the citadel, because they consider it disrespectful.

A Dutch skier was killed in an accident on the slopes of a ski resort in Sölden, Austria on Sunday. The 50-year-old man collided with a wooden marker during a descent and flew 15 meters through the air before landing on the ground, RTL Nieuws reports.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but could not land due to thick fog. Other skiers and emergency services tried to resuscitate the Dutch man, but he died at the scene.

The victim was on holiday with five family members. Where in the Netherlands he was from, has not yet been revealed.

Dozens of flights to and from the Canary Islands had to land at other airports on Sunday due to severe storms on the islands. Heavy rains an winds over 100 kilometers per hour made it impossible for flights to land on or take off from the islands during the afternoon. Many hundreds of Dutch holiday makers were affected, AD reports.

Flightradar24 shows that many flights had to move to Morocco and Faro in Portugal. These detours affected hundreds of Dutch tourists using airlines TUI and Transavia, according to the newspaper.

The French authorities are implementing stricter measures on drug use in skiing areas, focusing especially on Dutch and Spanish tourists. Most of the narcotics seized on the French ski slopes come from Netherlands and Spain, according to France's customs, NOS reports.

In the ski year 2015-2016, nearly 500 kilograms of weed, cocaine, and ecstasy, among others, were confiscated in the French Alps. A 20-year-old Dutch man was found bleeding and seriously injured by a passerby on the street in Kirchberg, Austria during the early hours of Saturday morning. Eight other Dutch were arrested on suspicion of assault.

A spokesperson for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs told NU.nl that eight other Dutch were arrested on suspicion of assault. Seven of them were released from custody after questioning. The eighth was released on Sunday night, the spokesperson said.

The Spanish police are investigating the death of a Dutch woman on the island of Gran Canaria, one of the Spanish Canary Islands. The woman was found dead next to the swimming pool of a vacation villa on Sunday morning, the Telegraaf reports.

The villa is located in Taurito, a tourist town on the southwest coast of the island. Emergency services responded to the villa around 10:15 a.m. The woman's partner, an Irish man, was taken in for questioning, but quickly released again.

A 64-year-old man from Roermond and a 67-year-old Belgian woman were killed by an elephant in Zambia earlier this month. It happened in a flash, the Dutch man's daughter, who saw it happen, said to De Limburger.

Four Dutch tourists and their Costa Rican guide were injured when they were caught in a landslide while climbing the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica on Friday. "We heard a strange noise and suddenly saw rocks falling down", 30-year-old Pieter Hoeijmakers said to De Limgurger. 

Hoeijmakers broke his arm. The other three Dutch sustained a shifted vertebra in the neck, a broken arm and collar bone, and a head wound respectively. Hoeijmakers and the Dutch man with the head wound are back in their hotel, the other two are still in hospital.

The number of sick or injured Dutch removed from cruise ships and taken to hospital, increased sharply over the past years, according to the Eurocross Alarm Center. The alarm center expects that by the end of the year, this number will be around 135 - a 30 percent increase compared to two years ago. At least 2,400 Dutch travelers are currently in the areas that will soon face the wrath of Hurricane Irma, according to travel agency TUI, NU.nl reports.

Around 1,600 Dutch are on Cuba and the Dominican Republic. They booked trips through TUI subsidiary Kras. The other 800 are in the American state of Florida.

TUI also has four travelers on Sint Maarten, where Hurricane Irma hit on Wednesday, leaving devastation in its wake. TUI managed to make contact with all four Dutch and they are doing well.
