Dutch man arrested for murdering wife while vacationing in Suriname
A Rotterdam man was arrested in Suriname for murdering his wife while holidaying in the country, the local police confirmed to NOS after a report on the local news site Waterkant.net. A Surinamese woman is also in custody.
The Rotterdam couple was supposed to return to the Netherlands last week. The woman’s family became concerned when she didn’t come home and contacted the police.
The Suriname police launched an investigation and found the woman’s body on Wednesday morning in the Saramacca district, west of the capital, Paramaribo. The Dutchman and the Surinamese women were arrested later that day.
A family member told Waterkeant.net that the man had murdered his wife with the help of his mistress - the woman who was also arrested. They then buried the body.
The police didn’t say how the suspects murdered the Dutch woman. They are in custody for questioning and further investigation.
