Killed Veldhoven woman's husband officially suspected of murder
The man who is in custody for killing his wife in Veldhoven last week is officially suspected of murder or manslaughter, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) confired ot the Telegraaf. According to Omroep Brabant, the police broke up a fight between the couple earlier in the week.
The police found the 34-year-old woman dead in her home on Leemsbroek in the Noord-Brabant town on Friday. Officers went to check the home after the man showed up at a Veldhoven police station, saying that his wife was dead at home.
The police arrested the 34-year-old man. The couple had three children. Photos from the scene show crime scene tape over a garden gate, behind which a toddler-sized slide and an inflatable kiddie pool are visible.
Neighbors told Omroep Brabant that the police were at the couple’s home on Tuesday afternoon because of a “serious” and “intense” argument between the two. The neighbors could hear the couple yelling, but couldn’t say what it was about. “I heard the woman herself calling the police,” a neighbor said. “They were here really quickly, of course, also because three children live at the address.”
According to the neighbors, the man left with his belongings and car after the police visit. “But on Thursday evening, his car was suddenly back here,” another neighbor said. A police spokesperson would not confirm responding to a domestic violence report there on Tuesday.
Several neighbors reported that they had little to no contact with the family, who had lived on the street for about four years. “I’m still shaking,” a neighbor said. “You normally see something like this coming, but this time not at all. They didn’t bother us, but we also had no contact with them.”
