Woman found dead in Veldhoven home; husband arrested
A 34-year-old woman was found dead Friday morning in her home on Leemsbroek street in Veldhoven. Police arrested her 34-year-old husband, who voluntarily reported to the police, authorities said Saturday. The couple lived in the home with their three children, Omroep Brabant reports.
Earlier in the week, police had allegedly responded to a loud domestic dispute at the residence. Neighbors described the argument as "intense" and "loud enough to be heard from inside their own homes," though the cause remains unknown. One neighbor reported hearing the woman call the police during the incident.
“They arrived quickly, especially since three children live there,” the neighbor told Omroep Brabant. The husband allegedly left the home with his belongings and car after the police visit but returned the following evening, according to another neighbor.
Residents told the newspaper that such loud disputes had not been common at the address, although the household had been “occasionally noisy.” The family had lived on the street for about four years.
Friends of the deceased woman expressed shock and sadness. A friend described her as “social,” noting she often participated in neighborhood activities. They also said that she was a pedicurist and a caring mother to her children, according to Omroep Brabant.
Another neighbor said, “I’m still shaking. Usually, you see something like this coming, but not at all in this case. We didn’t have any problems with them, but we also didn’t have much contact.” Other neighbors nearby and behind the house also reportedly had little contact with the family.
Specialists from the Forensic Investigation Team continued their investigation Saturday morning. Police removed belongings essential for the children from the home Friday evening. The children have since been placed elsewhere.
