Body of missing Dutch woman, 65, found in Samos
The body of a Dutch woman who had been missing since Thursday morning on the Greek island Samos was found on Wednesday. This was reported by sources close to the situation. Various search teams have been using drones and dogs to look for the 65-year-old from Amsterdam since Saturday morning.
According to the Greek City Times, the Dutch woman was staying at a hotel in the Pythagoreio. On Thursday morning, she told a friend that she was going to hike around the Eupalinian Aqueduct, a well-known ancient site near the town.
The sources added that the woman likely went down the wrong path at an intersection. The path contains a misleading junction, where it is easy to go wrong because of red markings. “It is probably an old route,” said a person involved in the situation.
It is still unclear what happened to the victim. She may have slipped because the path she had taken was allegedly quite dangerous. But she may also have gotten lost or drank too little, said the insiders.
