Dutch tourists sustain minor injuries in rescue from flooded cave in Thailand

Two Dutch women sustained minor injuries when they and 20 other tourists were rescued from a flooded cave in southern Thailand. One of their tour guides drowned, the Telegraaf reports.

The tour group became trapped in the caves located near a dam in Khao Sok National Park when the water levels suddenly rose after rain showers. Park rangers rescued them.

The Dutch women were treated for minor injuries to their legs at a local hospital.

It is forbidden to visit these caves during the rainy season in Thailand, from June to November, because they often flood. According to local media, the park management is, therefore, considering legal action against the surviving tour guides.
