Roy B., the suspect in the death of 17-year-old Orlando Boldewijn from Rotterdam in 2018, is "vulnerable, mentally disabled, and suffers from PTSD", his lawyer Katja Lotenberg said in a proforma hearing against her client on Monday. He is also being threatened, she said. The lawyer therefore asked that B.'s trial be held in behind closed doors and with no media present, Omroep West reports.

Prosecutors upgraded charges against a man arrested in Diemen over the death of a pregnant Brazilian woman and her unborn son. Dennis van E., 48, is facing accusations of aggravated abortion and manslaughter, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirmed on Friday. He was ordered held in jail for an additional 70 days in a hearing on Monday while attorneys continue to prepare for the case to come to trial, the Amsterdam district court system told NL Times.
A woman found dead with a baby in a Diemen apartment last month, was 32-year-old Patricia de Oliveira Santos from Fortaleza in Brazil. She was seven months pregnant when she traveled to the Netherlands to spend time with her boyfriend, her sister Fabiana told Brazilian media. The family doesn't yet know whether the deceased baby found with Patricia was the child she was expected to deliver, and more details could be revealed in court on Monday.

The appeals court in Beijing sentenced Dutch man Harm Fitié to 4.5 years in prison for his involvement in the death of his neighbor. A lower Chinese court previously sentenced him to 12 years, ANP reports.
Fitié was accused of pushing his neighbor off a rooftop, killing him. The Dutch man, living in Beijing, always maintained that neighbor Lu Zhichen was drunk and fell. There were no witnesses. The stunt driver involved in a monster truck crash that left three people dead and injured many others was sentenced to 15 months in jail at a court hearing on Friday. The court ruled that Mario D., an experienced stunt driver, was responsible in the accident, which saw the truck careen out of control and crash into a gathered crowd in Haaksbergen, Overijssel.
ProRail finished towing away the train that derailed after crashing into a crane near Dalfsen. The cleanup finished late on Wednesday afternoon and the railway company immediately started repairing the track and overhead line. ProRail had no idea that a crane would be working near the track on Tuesday.
