Dutch people increasingly shop online, according to Statistics Netherlands. The online purchase of food products in particular increased sharply.

This year 76 percent of Dutch aged 12 and older made at least one online purchase, compared to 73 percent last year. Dutch consumers also buy online more often. Clothing is most often bought online, with 52 percent of Dutch having purchased clothing online at least once this year. Tickets to events come in second place with 45 percent.

The police in Noord-Holland seaixed 1.1 million euros in cash, three banknote counters, three cars and lots of expensive designer clothes in Amsterdam, Haarlem and Hoorn last week in a large investigation into a criminal organization engaged in money laundering. Four suspects were arrested, the police said in a statement.

Dutch shoppers spent a massive 16 billion euros in online shopping last year, a 16 percent increase compared to 2014. Food sales showed the strongest growth, increasing by 40 percent, according to figures from Thuiswinkel Markt Monitor

The volume of retail trade was 1.5 percent higher compared to a year before, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). This is the fifth consecutive month demonstrating growth in the volume of sale, with turnover showing an increase in both food and non-food industries.

Income of clothing stores declined sharply between 2010 and 2013 in the Netherlands. Operating profit fell from over 500 million euros in 2010 to just 150 million in 2013, a drop of 70 percent, Statistics Netherlands revealed on Monday.

The Netherlands has breached the European Union rules on the reception of asylum seekers, such as access for food, clothing and shelter, for undocumented adults, the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) states. A Council of Europe human rights committee must now decide whether or not it will take action against the Netherlands based on the harshly critical ECSR report, unless conditions of asylum seekers quickly improve.

The remains found in the forests of Panama last Thursday belong to Lisanne Froon, one of the Dutch girls who, along with Kris Kremers, disappeared in the Central American country in April. DNA investigation determined the identity of the remains in a forensic laboratory in Panama City, the family has been notified, the NOS reports.
