The Dutch police made a breakthrough in intercepting encrypted messages between criminals. They gained access to the server of chat app Ironchat and could read messages sent between criminals as they were sent, the police announced on Tuesday afternoon. Over a hundred suspects were identified and many arrests will follow, NU.nl reports.

There's been an "important breakthrough" in the investigation into the murder of 11-year-old in 1998, the police announced on Tuesday. A press conference will be held at the Maastricht police station at noon.

The police had a breakthrough in the case of a Rotterdam man being kidnapped in Amstelveen earlier this year. Investigators found the house where the man was held hostage on Spaarnestraat in Leiden, the police announced on Thursday. The house has been thoroughly searched and the police expect to make arrests soon, NU.nl reports.

Thirteen years after the murder of Alex Wiegmink in Posbank, the police believe they are close ot a breakthrough, crime journalist Peter R. de Vries reported on Twitter. According to him, a cold case team of 20 detectives are working on the case and they found new technical evidence.

Alex Wiegmink was murdered in 2003, according to NOS. He went to the Posbank park for a run, but never returned. HIs body wasl later found in a burnt out car in Erp, Brabant. According to the broadcaster, it is assumed that Wiegmink witnessed a crime.
