A 40-year-old teacher was convicted for the rape of a 13-year-old girl on Tuesday. The teacher at secondary school Terra College in Assen was sentenced to 13 months of imprisonment, of which 10 months are conditional. His victim was one of his young students, according to Nu.nl.

Dutch petroleum company NAM can be held liable for immaterial damage suffered by a number of Groningen earthquake victims, the court in Assen ruled on Wednesday. This immaterial damage includes physical symptoms like headaches as well as psychological problems like anxiety, NU.nl reports.

A 42-year-old man from Assen was sentenced to 5 years in prison for raping and robbing a 20-year-old woman in his hometown just before Christmas last year, the court in Assen ruled. The man also has to undergo institutionalized psychiatric treatment and pay 14 thousand euros in damages to the victim

The court in Assen has sentenced Antonio van der P. and Enise B. to 16 and 12 years in prison respectively. The duo, better known as the Dutch Bonnie and Clyde, went on a two week crime spree through the Netherlands last year, starting with a robbery in Echten, Drenthe and ending with their arrest at a hotel in Schwerte, Germany. They were not present at the court during the ruling.
