Suspect in Amsterdam girlfriend's murder appeared on Dutch reality dating shows
The suspect in the murder of a 40-year-old woman in Amsterdam late last month is her 39-year-old partner, Clen V. He is known for his appearances in the dating shows Lang Leve de Liefde and Iris en de 12 Dates, RTL Nieuws reported.
The Amsterdam woman was found dead in her home on Koninginneweg in Amsterdam-Zuid on March 26. Earlier this week, the police reported that the investigation revealed strong indications that she had been murdered. The police arrested her 39-year-old partner. According to RTL, the two had a child together and were engaged to be married.
Clen V. appeared in the program Iris en de 12 Dates in 2019. He went on a date with pianist Iris Hond. Shortly thereafter, he appeared on another dating show, Lang Leve de Liefde. According to the broadcaster, his appearance there was met with criticism due to his volatile behavior toward his date. The episode involved has been taken offline.
The police have not revealed any details regarding how the Amsterdam woman was killed. Her family released a statement calling her death incomprehensible. They are devastated by her loss, but relieved that a suspect has been arrested.
Last week, the Amsterdam woman’s death was linked to another murder in Nieuw-Vennep a few days later. A 59-year-old woman was killed in a parking lot. It emerged that the two women worked together at ABN Amro. The police investigated but found no “substantive connection” between the two cases. A 36-year-old man is in custody for the murder of the Nieuw-Vennep victim.
