Over 100 motorists fined for filming traffic accident in Noord-Brabant
A total of 112 motorists have been fined for filming a serious crash on the N279 near Heeswijk-Dinther, as emergency crews worked at the scene of a five-vehicle collision, authorities said.
The drivers will each receive a 440 euro fine for using their phones while driving past the crash site, according to Omroep Brabant. Police said using a phone behind the wheel is prohibited.
The crash happened Friday morning on the N279 between Veghel and Den Bosch and involved two trucks, a delivery van, and two passenger cars. The road was closed following the collision.
“Emergency services were busy helping everyone and making the situation safe,” police in Meierijstad wrote on Instagram. “Yet some passing drivers felt the need to grab their phones to film everything or take photos. Not only disrespectful toward those involved, but also dangerous and punishable.”
