Woman, 83, killed in crash near Enschede
An 83-year-old woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a car crash just across the Dutch-German border near Enschede, RTV Oost reported.
The fatal crash occurred on the L560, also known as the Ahaus-Enscheder Damm, shortly after midday. The woman, a passenger, died at the scene.
She was traveling with an 83-year-old driver and a 76-year-old passenger, both of whom were seriously injured. Their car veered off the road for reasons that remain under investigation.
Emergency services from both Germany and the Netherlands responded to the scene. The injured were transported by ambulance to a hospital in Enschede. Firefighters set up screens around the site to shield the rescue operation. The L560 and parts of the B70 were closed for several hours.
