Unlicensed driver injures police officer in Haaksbergen
A 21-year-old man from Enschede struck and injured a police officer in Haaksbergen on Friday after attempting to evade a traffic stop, police said Saturday. The officer suffered an arm injury and required hospital treatment.
The incident occurred on the Egelantier street, where officers tried to pull the man over for driving without a license. Instead, the suspect accelerated, driving at high speed over a sidewalk and through a green strip, hitting the officer.
Police did not pursue the car immediately, saying the man is known as a reckless driver. Later in the day, he was arrested.
