Shootings leave one dead in Amsterdam-Oost, One hurt in Rotterdam-West
A suspected shooting left a man dead on the street in Amsterdam on Sunday evening. Earlier in the day, another man was injured in a separate shooting incident in Rotterdam, the police reported.
The Amsterdam police responded to Pontanusstraat in the Oost district at around 10:30 p.m. after a report of a wounded man on the street. They found the man unresponsive with what appeared to be a bullet wound. First responders tried to resuscitate him, but it was to no avail. He died at the scene.
The police could not tell NOS with certainty whether a shooting had occurred because the cause of the man’s injuries was still unclear. The police are investigating what happened and asked witnesses to come forward.
The shooting in Rotterdam happened on Mathenisserdijk at around 4:40 p.m. Responding police officers found a 32-year-old local man injured on the street. The man was conscious and responsive when paramedics took him to the hospital.
Several witnesses reported that they saw shots fired from a dark-colored car, which then sped away toward Mathensserbrug. The police are investigating the circumstances around the shooting and asked witnesses to come forward.
