Two found dead in Wassenaar hotel; Body found in Amsterdam home

Those in the Netherlands in life threatening danger should immediately dial 112 for emergencies, and anyone suffering from depression or contemplating suicide can call 113 Zelfmoordpreventie at any time by dialing either 113 or 0800-0113, or by visiting 113.nl.

Two people were found dead in a hotel on Katwijkseweg in Wassenaar on Tuesday morning, The Hague police reported on X. The emergency services are investigating what happened. Separately, the police found a deceased person in a home in Amsterdam and arrested a suspect a short time later.

The authorities received the first report about deceased people in the Wassenaar hotel at around 5:20 a.m. and responded in large numbers.

According to NU.nl, the two were found under suspicious circumstances after a report of an accident involving hazardous substances. “All scenarios are still open. It could be a crime, but it could also be that these people made that decision themselves,” a police spokesperson told the newspaper.

The police have not said where in the hotel they were found, or who found them. Their identities are also still unknown.

Amsterdam

The Amsterdam police found a deceased person in a home on Mataramstraat in Amsterdam Oost on Monday evening. They arrested a suspect in the area a short time later, the Amsterdam police said on X.

Locals told AT5 that police officers responded to the home in large numbers at around 9:00 p.m. An ambulance arrived about 15 minutes later but left again when it became clear that the person was deceased.

The police cordoned off the home for forensic investigation. So far, they’ve released no details about the victim’s identity or what happened. Investigators asked witnesses to come forward.
