Man rapes woman in broad daylight in Hoorn park; Police seek witnesses

A man raped a woman in the park between Schout in Hoorn and Dorpstraat in Zwaag on Saturday afternoon. The police are looking for the perpetrator and asked witnesses and people with relevant surveillance camera footage to come forward.

The victim, a Polish woman, was walking in the park at around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday when the man approached her. He pulled her into the bushes and raped her in broad daylight.

Afterward, the man walked out of the bushes and rode away on a bicycle toward the Nachtwachter.

The woman sought help from passersby, who called the police.

The suspect is a man between the ages of 25 and 30 with dark skin and short hair. He is about 1.7 meters tall and has an average build. At the time of the rape, he was wearing a brown-green lumberjack shirt and light pants.

The police conducted a trace evidence investigation in the park and launched a search for the man, but so far, that has not led to an arrest. “The vice squad is investigating the case further and looking for witnesses,” the police said. The police are also looking for any relevant footage from surveillance cameras, dashcams, or doorbell cameras.
